Wool Pashmina Scarves – A Lovely Gift

A stylish winter scarf is a real winter essential but that doesn’t mean that you are limited to traditional woolly scarves. Wool pashmina scarves make excellent winter scarves because they are warm and cosy but give you a more streamlined, elegant look. They are ideal for smart outfits, pairing with a tailored winter coat or adding warmth to a smart jacket. Here at Scarfworld.com we have a great choice of pashmina scarves made from pure wool and cashmere, so you can stay warm and stylish all winter long.

Pure Wool Pashmina Scarves

These colourful pashmina scarves are made from fine wool blends including cashmere and merino. Classic pashmina scarves are made from a special kind of cashmere that is very warm but lightweight. These wool pashminas use a slightly denser wool blend specially designed to keep out the cold and insulate you against chilly winds. I love these wool pashminas because they are so versatile – they literally go with anything.

Silk & Wool Pashmina Scarves

For something a little more luxurious, I recommend one of our silk and wool pashmina scarves. These pashminas have a wonderfully soft, silky fabric that feels very luxurious. They are very warm and cosy, with a beautiful silk sheen and a polished look. I would wear one of these pashmina scarves around my shoulders to a smart event, wrapped up like a cocoon or to brighten up my dark winter coat.

Cool New Winter Accessories

Warm, stylish winter accessories can make a cold winter so much more bearable so here at Scarfworld we are stocking up on just that. Gloves, hats and scarves might seem unimportant but when it’s cold outside and your favourite clothes are obscured by a boring winter coat, a few stylish winter accessories will definitely make a difference! No one wants to freeze, but in my opinion there is no need to suffer bland winter style – even if you can’t afford to splash out on a whole new wardrobe, new winter accessories are the perfect way to update your look AND stay warm on a daily basis.

New Winter Gloves Accessories

I love these new winter gloves. These fingerless gloves are really warm and cosy – you can wear them pulled up or scrunch them down around your wrist for a relaxed but very cosy look. These fingerless gloves come in lots of different colours and they are a great way to brighten up your outfit. I wear my blue ones on a daily basis and they provide a much needed flash of colour with my winter coat. I also wear them indoors if it is particularly chilly – our office can take a while to warm up in the mornings! Because they are fingerless, I can still get on with my work, without having freezing fingers.

New Winter Snoods Accessories

These winter snoods are a great alternative to bulky winter scarves. They consist of a tube of cosy knitted material that you just slip over your head. Unlike a scarf, they have no ends that dangle or need bundling up; they just keep you nice and warm. These winter accessories are ideal for sporty types and they look gorgeous with any outfit. We also have a white knitted snood available.

Stylish Winter Scarves

alexa chung winter scarf

When I woke up this morning to frosty pavements and a frozen windscreen I had to admit it – winter is definitely here! It has suddenly got much colder here in London and now is the perfect time to make sure you have got a few gorgeous winter scarves to see you through the cold weather in style.

Here at Scarfworld.com we have a great range of winter scarves, from smart cashmere scarves to cute patterns and catwalk-ready looks. Once it gets cold it’s impossible to leave the house without a cosy winter scarf so it’s really important to find a couple that you love. What with the cold weather and nights drawing in, the last thing you need is an ugly scarf. A good winter scarf can really pull your outfit together and they are a great way to add interest to your look. A lesson that Alexa Chung is demonstrating very well in this photo. Her animal print grey scarf is edgy but classic, perfectly in sync with her style. It tones in with her mustard cardigan and allows her to work the trend for clashing prints at the same time. You don’t wear the same outfit every day so every girl needs at least two winter scarves to go with different looks.

Plain Winter Scarves

If you are looking for a new winter scarf the best place to start is with simple, vibrant colours. Jewel colours are big this year and they are a lovely way to brighten up a winter outfit. I have chosen three winter scarves that will put a spring in your step but will also go with lots of different colours. They also have gorgeous cosy textures that will add interest and flair to your outfit. The Pom Pom Winter Scarf is a cosy classic. It is really warm and the pom poms are a cute touch. If you are worried about bulking up your silhouette I recommend the Echo Design Winter Scarf in the centre. This scarf is very warm but lightweight. It gives you a lovely cosy feel but it does not get in the way of a sharp coat or slim silhouette. I think the Pink Velvet Winter Scarf is my favourite. It is wonderfully soft and luxurious but still practical for winter. The colour is great and very flattering to wind-blown winter complexions.

Patterned Winter Scarves

To add style to simple outfits, you can’t go wrong with a patterned winter scarf. These winter scarves with brighten up your outfit and put you right on trend. Again we have an on trend scarf, a classic one and a cute colour. The Red Check Winter Scarf is my choice for a classic preppy look. The colour is fab and it is perfect for tailoring or a menswear-inspired look. The Pink Stripy Winter Scarf is also gorgeous but for me the standout piece is the Animal Print Pashmina Scarf. This scarf is mixes edgy pattern with elegant tones to give you a lovely look. It is a good equivalent to Alexa’s grey animal print scarf and will look gorgeous with this season’s trends.

Wear Skull Scarves for Halloween

Halloween is just a couple of weeks away so it’s the perfect time to make a statement with skull scarves. Skull print scarves first became popular in the wake of Alexander McQueen’s iconic skull print and now they are a real classic. The gothic trend is hot for autumn 2010 and this is one high fashion trend we can all enjoy. Just add a skull scarf to your outfit for an edgy, glamorous and effortless look.

Cotton Skull Scarves

Our cotton skull scarves are the perfect way to tap into this trend. These skull scarves are large square cotton scarves and they come in a great choice of colours, including the turquoise one pictured on the left.

I think this is the perfect scarf to take you into autumn. It is large and cosy yet lightweight enough that you don’t feel weighed down. Wear these skull scarves to toughen up a pretty dress or use them to add edge to a simple tee shirt.

Bandana Skull Scarves

Bandana skull scarves are the classic rock ‘n roll accessory. Here at Scarfworld we have a great range of skull print bandanas that range from classic heavy metal styles to cute retro chic.

These skull scarves are the perfect way to finish off an outfit. Wear them for an old school rock ‘n roll look, wear them pirate style or tie one around pinned up hair for a gorgeous 1950s rockabilly ‘do.

Lace It Up with Lace Scarves

Lace will always be known for its sex appeal but when I saw a lace scarf draped over the shoulders of a shop window mannequin in Tokyo I thought wow, what a great way to dress up an otherwise basic outfit. Worn with a relatively simple outfit, the lace scarf added richness and texture to the outfit, rather than something more racy. This brought a whole new appeal to lace for me.

Lace has been in vogue for a while now, appearing on and off the catwalks. Louis Vuitton included beautiful lace-covered shoes in their last collection, while Ralph Lauren turned out chic lace jackets, Bally created divine lace leggings and Trussardi dived right into the lace trend with lace detail handbags, headdresses and long lace scarves.

Thankfully you don’t have to go to Tokyo or a designer boutique to add a chic lace scarf to your look. These lace triangle scarves look great for day or night and can be worn in lots of different ways:

Coco Chanel Influenced Scarves

After seeing the amazing new film Coco Avant Chanel I have been noticing even more Chanel-influenced clothes on the high street. Classic Chanel style is so elegant and chic, it’s easy to understand why it is has influenced so many designers over the years. One of the key Chanel styles is the little black dress which is a must for almost every woman’s wardrobe.  It is simple and flattering, and is suitable for any occasion.  The genius of Chanel’s little black dress is its versatility change your shoes, jewellery or accessories and that one LBD will take you anywhere in style.

As you might have guessed, my favourite way to update a little black dress is with a scarf. For the complete Chanel style, look for scarves in black and white, with dynamic patterns to sharpen your look.

For the evening, add a collar-less jacket to your LBD and tie a silk scarf around the neckline.  Coco Chanel herself often wore this look and tied her scarves neatly, often over her trademark pearls.

For more casual occasions, take inspiration from Coco Chanel’s revolutionary use of jersey fabric.  Coco Chanel was the first designer to use jersey to give ladies the freedom to move away from corsets. I love jersey dresses, but this is also a great fabric for scarves jersey scarves feel so soft and look gorgeous. My favourite jersey scarf right now is this Star Mix Jersey Scarf:

Sarongs for Holiday Style

I spent the weekend mad panic clothes shopping for my summer hols only to find that shops have brought out their AW collections already.  Is it me or is everyone really early this year?

So I’m resorting to what I already have in my wardrobe and will accessorize to the max. I am thinking straw trilbies, big sunglass, stacks of bangles jewellery and of course some colourful sarongs to brighten up my outfits.

Here at Scarfworld.com we have a really exciting range of Sarongs to choose from, my fave is this gorgeous pink dip dye sarong:

Wedding Season Scarves

It’s the height of the wedding season and as in recent years the scarf remains a key accessory of choice. A wedding I attended last weekend was proof of this fact. Present at the ceremony were organza and pashmina wraps, skinny sequin numbers and even the occasional jaunty neckerchief!

Scarves are the easiest way to update an outfit or create a special outfit for a wedding. As well as being a good cover up in the church, a scarf or wrap can also provide welcome warmth, often needed in Britain’s inclement summer! If you have a special ceremony to attend, take a look at the gorgeous range of scarves at Scarfworld.com, especially the Silk Scarves and Pashmina Scarves perfect for all sorts of outfits.
